(記者謝自宗台北報導)國民黨總統參選人洪秀柱今天前往新竹義民廟，出席當地客家人重要節日義民節的祭典活動，受到當地民眾熱烈歡迎，除了有人大聲喊洪秀柱當選，更有人大叫「總統好」，場面熱烈。
洪秀柱是受到主辦單位邀請，前來參加這場盛會。洪在致詞中表示，義民爺保家衛國、愛鄉愛土、犧牲奮鬥的精神，就是客家人的硬頸精神，令人非常佩服。洪秀柱除了承諾將讓台灣寶島成為世界客家文化中心、活化客家社區，繁榮客庄經濟、鼓勵青年投入客家事業以外, 也推動兩岸及國際客家文化交流，加強臺灣客家影響力。
洪秀柱致詞中也以名字中的「柱」字舉例，期望「柱子」能為中華民國好好做一番事情。洪也祈求義民爺大顯英靈，保佑國家國泰民安、風調雨順，選舉過程平安、順利、大家都贏。此次的行程，也是洪秀柱首次與民進黨主席蔡英文同台的場合。洪秀柱在致詞一開始，除了稱讚蔡英文是一位「可愛又可敬的對手」，在致詞完以後更主動趨前與蔡主席握手致意。
立法院長王金平也在儀式進行中抵達，並且比鄰而坐。王金平在典禮結束後，在媒體前面舉起洪秀柱的手高喊”凍蒜”，展線挺柱的決心，用行動打破謠言。洪在受訪時，有媒體詢問有沒有感受到王金平的關愛時笑著說：「王院長一直都很關愛我，是記者們沒有感受到而已。」(自立晚報)
